What kind of church is Selma?
Selma Baptist Church is a place of hospitality and welcoming people from all walks of life. We see ourselves as a haven for our community. We value people of all ages, ethnicities, and cultures. Children, students, families, adults, and seniors are all treasured members of our family.
What’s the culture like at Selma?
Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
What about my kids?
We believe that kids should love coming to church and at Selma, this is one of our priorities. On Sunday mornings we have a children’s church for K4-4th Graders that ministers to them in an age-appropriate manner. On Sunday evenings, kids enjoy King’s Kids during the services, and on Wednesday nights kids experience a hands-on ministry in God’s Science Lab. We also provide a staffed nursery for all services for ages birth-K3. But your kids are more than welcome to stay with you during worship services as well!
What are your services like?
Selma’s services focus mostly on worship and preaching or teaching. We’ll open with some short announcements, worship through music, and hear God’s word. Our services are blended in style connecting to God through both hymns and modern music.
Will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out?
No way will we ever want to make a guest feel uncomfortable because we wouldn’t like that if it was us either! You will never be put on the spot, singled out, or embarrassed. We do like to collect some basic information from first-time visitors through a connection card, but that’s completely up to you.
Will I be expected to give money when I come?
At each service we collect tithes and offerings, as a manner of worship and because that’s how any church receives funding to operate its ministry. But as our guest, we don’t expect you to participate unless you want to.
